Location

The ZIP or town you type is sent to our server to look up coordinates and a forecast; the coordinates (rounded to about a kilometre) are kept in the page address so you can share the result, and in your browser's local storage so the page remembers your town. On first visit, if you have typed nothing, we use the approximate city our hosting provider derives from your IP address to show a result immediately; that guess is not stored by us.

Email alerts

If you sign up for storm alerts, your address and town are stored with our email provider (Resend) and used only to send the alerts. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at hello@snowdaymeter.com.

Cookies, analytics and ads

We do not set tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics records page views without cookies or personal identifiers. When display ads run in winter, the ad network may set its own cookies; a consent choice is shown where the law requires it. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Third parties

Forecasts are fetched from Open-Meteo and alerts from the National Weather Service by our server, not by your browser; neither receives anything about you.
